Another road trip!! 9/23-9/25

After having a successful trip out of town the week before, we felt assured that we could drag Paige out again the following weekend for a cousin's wedding on Jeremy's side of the family. The wedding was in Mitchell, SD on Saturday but we headed up to Sioux Falls on Friday to see Jeremy's grandparents.
We spent the rest of Friday with Paige's great grandparents, and went back to the hotel. Paige fell asleep great and slept again most of the night. Saturday we went back to have lunch with Great Grandma and Grandpa Lang before heading over to Emery where Jeremy's dad lives. Later on that afternoon, we went to Mitchell for the wedding. We dressed Paige up in a dress and even a pink headband with a bow on it. It's kind of funny, before we had a girl we said that we wouldn't dress up our baby in those type of girly things, but man did she look cute!! Paige was more fussy than normal over the whole weekend. We're guessing it was due to all the traveling and moving from person to person. Hopefully, it's not a sign of things to come!! However, we know that it won't be as easy as it has been with her as she gets older. She did still manage to sleep through the wedding reception that was held in a basement of a Legion hall with tons of people and loud music!
We went back to the hotel in Sioux Falls Saturday night and then headed back home to Omaha on Sunday. It was great to have a bunch more relatives meet little Paige! Up next is a potential LONG trip to Gettysburg sometime in October. 7 1/2 hours in a car might not go so smoothly!!

Great Grandma Lang holding Paige for the first time. It was kind of funny, Grandma wouldn't hold her until she stopped squirming so much. Well, Paige has the habit of always kicking her legs so it took some time before Grandma could hold her and it only lasted a few minutes until Paige started to move around a lot! I think Grandma still enjoyed holding her though:)

Paige's first road trip!

This past weekend, we headed out of town for the first time since we had Paige. Our friends that used to live here in Omaha invited a bunch of us up to their new house for a housewarming party weekend. Originally, we weren't going to go as Paige was barely over a month old and we weren't sure how that would work! We were able to "reserve" one of the spare bedrooms, and since Paige has been sleeping so good at night we figured it would be doable!
We went up Friday early afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning. Paige spent most of the time sleeping as usual, but when she was awake she was passed around to our friends to hold. One of the things that is always so cute is when a little kid in our group of friends or family wants to hold Paige. We have them sit down on the couch, use a pillow to help prop up Paige, and then take pictures as the child and Paige usually just stare at each other!
As we write this entry, Paige is now 6 weeks old. She's growing bigger everyday and is already starting to outgrow some of her clothes and has gone up a size in diapers. She has always slept so well at night. Now with the cooler weather we have started to use a sleep sack along with her swaddling blanket. This has seemed to make her even more cozy at night and she sleeps even better!! She has regularly been sleeping 6-7 hours straight between feedings, and we usually have to wake her up then otherwise she would keep sleeping. This definitely helped this past weekend when mom and dad were up later with our friends!
This weekend we are headed out of town again for a family wedding. It's on Jeremy's side of the family with relatives that have yet to meet Paige. We can't wait to have her meet some more of the family!

Paige's first smiles(probably)!!

We took some pics last night of Paige laying on her back on the chaise. She's usually pretty content for some time while she lays on her back after a feeding. Last night though, she broke out a bunch of smiles that we tried to capture on camera. We missed some of the good ones, but still captured a few. We have "probably" in the title of this entry because she has made some faces before that could have been considered a smile, but her facial expression was probably just some uncontrolled expression or as other people have said, probably just gas!! However, after seeing her smile last night off and on for a good 10 minutes, we're certain she knew what she was doing!!

she's smiling but look at that middle finger, ha ha!!

another good one

Happy 1 month Birthday!

It's hard to believe that our baby is already one month old! She has changed a ton and definitely has her own personality! Here are the many faces of Paige.

Angry...(Ok borderline pissed!:) Thankfully she isn't like that often. Otis was trying hard to help, but it wasn't working.

Labor Day weekend

We had a busy Labor Day weekend! Saturday, some friends who hadn't seen Paige yet came over. The first Huskers game was also on so it was a good time to get people together. A couple of our friends that did come over have young children so besides the adults, there were also 4 other little ones running around! It was fun to watch the little kids play, but it also was a look into how much "crazier" things will be for us once Paige is old enough to run around and get into things. It's so "easy" now that she just sleeps or lays still in one spot.
Sunday and Monday, the weather was amazing so we wanted to do something outside. We decided we would go fishing. We usually go to a lake right here in town that is stocked with fish, called Standing Bear. This was our first trip like this out with Paige. We got everything set up near the lake, but it was too sunny and just a bit breezy for Paige. Sarah was nice and took Paige up to the car, allowing daddy to keep fishing. We backed the car up to the fishing spot so Sarah and Paige could still watch. Paige immediately fell asleep though, or maybe she was already sleeping! We had to snap a picture though of Paige with her first fish!!
Monday we wanted to try a different lake for a change of pace. We found Walnut Creek Lake down south in the suburb of Papillion. The lake was much bigger than Standing Bear, but was harder to access. It did have a nice dock though so we brought out the stroller and spent a couple of hours fishing again. Mom took care of Paige, while daddy fished again. Paige did sleep for part of the time in the stroller, but spent a good amount of time laid out on the dock watching all the other families fishing.
One other thing to note, Paige has begun to get her lungs behind her crying. Monday night she was wanting to eat every 1.5-2 hours and when she was hungry, she let us know!! We've never seen her get that mad before or turn that red in the face. At one point, we wondered whether she was going to take a breath again as she was building up a scream!! Oh joy!!!

Paige in her cat hat, we were going to use to cover her ears from the wind. It didn't seem to fit her head right though so it didn't cover up her ears real well, so we just kept her out of the breeze as much as possible

Sarah up in the back of the Edge with Paige. I don't blame Paige for sleeping. Watching someone else fish can be boring!

trying to show Paige one of daddy's monster fish, but she wasn't interested!

Paige's baptism and family visit 8/20/11

So with a new baby, it's of course hard to keep away friends and family from seeing the new little one(not that we would want to keep them away!). Our parents, sisters, brothers, and nieces all came to visit the weekend of August 18th-21st. We had Paige's baptism on the 20th of August in our church whose air conditioning was broke down! We survived though and then came back to the house for burgers and hot dogs and a nice evening out on the deck. When everyone left on Sunday, we actually felt pretty lonely! One things for sure, our little one was spoiled by all of our family this weekend. So many wonderful gifts!! Thank you everyone again!
